"Why Not" ... Abbi Saunders/Soundmagic Studios (July 2006)

Abbi Saunders was a 14 year old singer/songwriter from Danbury who recorded her 5 track demo CD with us back in April 2006.  We were so impressed by this tune, even as a rough demo, that we offered to work on the song and transform it into a more commercial Avril Lavigne-type pop/rock tune.  Click on the speakers for "before" and "after" samples.

"Majestic World" ... Disarmed (February 2006)

Disarmed are a 3-piece guitar band, formed and based in Southend-On-Sea.  Musically they combine elements from The Smashing Pumpkins, Placebo and Nirvana into their own style of alternative rock.  This track was taken from their 3 song EP recorded with us earlier this year.  For more info, check out the website.

"Smells Like Teen Spirit" ... Lisa Hart (January 2006)

Multi-talented Lisa is the keyboard player with Black Ash and bass player/vocalist with Mixed Up Trio.  This song was originally recorded by Nirvana and subsequently re-arranged by Tori Amos.  Lisa has taken this version and made it her own.

"Ode To Brown" ... Curly Circus (December 2005)

Curly Circus are a very well-known local 5 piece band who regularly make use of our rehearsal facilities.  In mid-December the band said they would like to make a new CD but all live with few or no overdubs.  The result was an excellent set of 19 songs recorded and mixed over 3 days.  This song is the opener.  For more info, check out the website.

Suffolk-based 6piece band Amber came back to record their second EP with us.   Amber are  Nick – Vocals / Guitar, Baz – Vocals / Guitar, James – Guitar, Dan – Bass / Piano / Trumpet, Alex – Piano / Clarinet, Tom – Drums / Percussion.  For more info, check out the website.

We B 40 are a 5-piece covers band from Essex comprised of  Dan Pike (guitar and vocals), Tony Morris (guitar), Del Roll (drums), Steve Wynne (bass) and Barbera Roll (vocals). We recorded the bands' 5-song EP over 3 days.

"Stay With Me" ... Gerry Luby (December  2004)

Gerry is a forty-something singer/songwriter born in Glasgow and now based in Harlow, Essex.  Formerly of The Crocs, Gerry decided to record and release some of his self-penned songs on an 11-song album which we recorded and mixed over a 3 month period.  Gerry's main influences are Del Amitri, REM, Gordon Lightfoot and Tom Petty.   Appearing on the album are Paul Docherty (drums) and Scott Lomas (bass).  Check out the website.

"Give It All" ... Rob Mepham (October  2004)

 Rob is currently keyboarder for Relay, melodic rock band from Essex and bass player for Window Licker.  This song is the opener to Rob's 3 song EP we recorded with the help of Paul Docherty on drums.  Apart from some lead guitar on the third song "Cranked" and drums, Rob plays all the guitars, keyboards and provides all the vocals.

"Drunks On The Pier" ... The Chorus (June  2004)

 The Chorus are a five piece from South Woodham Ferrers made up of Benjamin Hobden (guitars), Sam Milverton (Piano), Jim Van-Win (Bass), Phil Smith (Drums) and Barton Young (vocals). The band have been writing as The Chorus since January 2004 but have been together as a band, under different names, since 1997.

"Babe" ... Black Ash (May  2004)

Black Ash are a seven piece rock group, based in Essex.  The core of the group have been together for the last three years, although there have been a couple of line up changes over the last few months.  The band are : Kriz Kibblewhite (19) bass guitar and Lead Vocals, Ben Lovejoy (17) Lead Guitar, Dave McCarthy (14) Drums (new), Cathy Hart (20) Rhythm Guitar and Keyboards, Lisa Hart (14) Keyboards, Sam Smallbone (17)  Lead/Backing Vocals and Danielle Fairchild (18) Lead/Backing Vocals (new).

Black Ash have made a conscious effort to avoid being pigeon holed to one particular genre, preferring to continue to write and perform music in the styles that they enjoy and that influence them at the time.  They have a fairly extensive and varied repertoire and have played live at a number of venues throughout Essex.  These include, The Hermit Brentwood, The Venue Braintree, The Circus Tavern Purfleet, The Towngate Theatre, Basildon, as well as a number of all day music festivals, and private functions.  They have been featured on BBC Essex, Dream FM and Pheonix FM and have appeared or have been booked to appear on Roadshows presented by these radio stations.  Essex FM also interviewed the band.  Check out the website.

"Come Stand In Line" ... Chaser   (September 2002)

A pop/rock covers band from Suffolk, Usual Suspects are Tony (vocals), Lisa (vocals), Mike (guitar), John (keyboards) and Nick (bass).  This song is a cover of the Bryan Adams/Mel C song and is one of 6 songs we recorded for the band's "Under Surveillance" EP.

Guess are a pop/rock covers band from Colchester and are:  Jenna Bailey (vocals), James Bailey (bass and vocals), Andy Funnell (guitar and vocals) and Leigh Cooper (drums, vocals and percussion).  We recorded and mixed the band's 3-track demo (which includes a medley of 3 Blondie songs lasting over 8 minutes!) over 4 days.  This track is a cover of the Dido song. "Gear Jammer" and "High Voltage" ... Live Wire (December 2001)

Live Wire are a 4-piece rock covers band from Essex with Scott Cooper (bass and vocals), Martin Render (drums), Adie Cummins (guitar) and James Shippen (guitar and vocals).  Their 6 track CD, which was recorded and mixed in 4 days, contains material by AC/DC, George Thoroughgood, Motorhead, Metallica and Lynard Skynard.  Gear Jammer was chosen for inclusion on the site as it features James on Dobro steel guitar.  Our brief for High Voltage was to make the track sound "live" i.e. recorded in an arena together with crowd participation!  The band play regularly at The Twist in Colchester.  Contact via website.

FAT Arnold are a Ska/Funk/Metal band based in Portsmouth and comprises Dan (vocals), James (guitar), Gumbo (guitar), Ryan (bass) and Matt (drums).  The 13-track CD also features DJ Will Chump.  The project of 8 songs plus 5 DJ tracks was recorded and mixed in 5 days !
